Distributing; lighting, systems of. -Relates to a system of distribution in which mercury-vapour lamps or the like are started independently in parallel and afterwards automatically connected in series on cons t a n t - potential mains. The mercury lamps 1, 2, of ordinary construction, are started in a known manner by the solenoid 8 drawing down the plunger 7, and are connected across the mains 11, 12 through steadying- resistances 10, 13. As soon as the lamps operate, the cut-outs 9, 14, provided with dash-pots, are opened, and the lamps are connected in series through the resistance 15.
