Regulating; transformers.-The pressure of current supplied to an electric furnace is regulated by cutting into or out of circuit parts of the coils of the generator, exciter, or transformer. The Figure shows a transformer having its primary coil a divided into sections which can be connected in circuit by means of contacts d and of an arm movable by a screw. The secondary coil b is also divided into sections which have separate connexions to the electrodes c. The regulation ma.y, less conveniently, be applied to the secondary coil.
