Abstract
26,450. Walker, J. W. Nov. 22. Heel protectors. - An india-rubber or leather top-lift d is attached to, and envelopes the edge of, a metal plate c, which has tapered or stepped projections g adapted to form part of the wearing-surface. A T-shaped plate h, having a raised flange m and upturned portions q, is attached to the heel proper, as shown in Figs. 3 and 8. The plate c may then be slid, from the rear of the heel, on to the plate h, until the end p comes into contact with the edges q; this part of the plate is then forced upward until openings s take over projections t and allow the bent portion of the plate h to spring back into its original position, so securing the protector to the heel. According to the Provisional Specification, disk-shaped protectors may be similarly ' made with regard to the projections g, but are secured by means of the usual central screw.
