Protectors, securing.-A removable heel comprises a base d of leather, to which is attached a U- shaped frame h of metal or hard leather carrying buttons or renewable studs i forming the tread surface. The permanent heel portion of the boot is provided with an overhung tongue c projecting from a leather cross-strip b. The removable part is fitted on the boot, the tongue c entering the opening in the U-shaped frame, and the strip b passing into a recess e provided in the base d. A screw m is then passed through the tongue c and the base d into the boot to secure the heel in position. In a modification, the tongue c is formed of an angled metal strip which is secured to the breast of the heel. In another modification, the tongue is formed by a metal plate hinged to a second plate secured to the boot. Removable soles may be similarly secured. Wearing studs may be provided on the tongue e.
