Abstract

24,960. Worley, R. H. Nov. 6. Tables; looking-glasses and mirrors; washstands, -A combined collapsible washstand and dressing- table for use in small dressing- rooms, ships, railway carriages, and other places where space is limited consists of three hinged panels, namely : a panel d forming the dressing-table top, shown in use in Fig. 1, a panel b hinged below the panel d to carry a bowl c, shown in use in Fig. 2, and a panel a hinged to the panel b which covers neatly the two panels b, d when folded up out of use, as shown in Fig. 3, and may form a support for them when in use. The bowl c may be collapsible or not, and may be made of ribbed waterproof canvas, enamelled tin, aluminium, or other material. The panel d is fitted with an adjustable and folding mirror e supported by arms g, and with an inlaid rack f which engages a projection in the frame of the mirror. As shown in Fig. 2, the dressing-table is folded up and secured by a catch k fixed to the wall l, the mirror e having been folded and secured by suitable catches. A supplementary mirror m is let into the underside of the dressing-table top for use when the wash-bowl is in use. A catch k<1> is provided under the panel d for securing the washstand when folded up, as shown in Fig. 3. The dressing-table top is provided with leather or like loops to retain toilet articles, and the washstand top has sunk recesses with halfcovers to retain nail-brushes, soap, &c. when closed up. In this position, a hook o on the plug n of the bowl is engaged on a bar which folds down over the bowl on the tup b, and a bar s fixed to the bottom section of the bowl engages the second or middle section, so that the various parts of the bowl are rigidly held. Flexible hot and cold water connexions are fitted at the sides of the device. To take away the waste, a metal coupling v, Fig. 7, fitted with a flexible pipe w may be fitted on to the discharge nozzle n<1> of the bowl.
