Abstract
24,232. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.]. Oct. 30. Incandescent lamps.-Filaments and the like are composed of or contain tungsten dioxide, which has conductivity comparable to that of a metal. In the preferred method of manufacture, filaments of metallic tungsten are heated to about 500‹ C. in a limited quantity of oxygen at low pressure until absorption of the oxygen has ceased, as indicated by a manometer. They are then heated more strongly in a vacuum or inert gas. The two heatings may be effected in the lamps themselves or in separate vessels. Specification No. 19,785, A.D. 1898, is referred to.
