14,852. Trenzen, C., and Pope, F. R. July 13. Resistances of titanium, for lamp filaments and the like, are made from a mixture of finely divided metal, containing a small amount of nitrides, with a carbonaceous binding - material which removes most of the nitrides as titanium cyanide during a subsequent heating in an electric furnace to 1200‹ C. After a final heating in a vacuum by a high-pressure current the body consists of practically pure sintered titanium. It is stated that filaments containing some nitride may be made from gelatinous titanic acid.
