Abstract

22,697. West, S. H. Oct. 13. Locking-apparatus to prevent theft. -In a wheel-locking device for bicycles, to be used in lieu of the wheel stop described in Specification No. 22,906, A.D. 1905, a band B of flexible steel, or a doubled steel wire, secured by hooks or loops b<1>, b<2> to a clip c upon the rear forks and to a pin a' apon a lever A, is adapted to be brought to bear upon the wheel tyre by turning the lever about its fulcrum pin a<2>, which works in the socket d<1> of a clip D upon the other fork member. The band lies between the mud guard and the wheel. By providing a tongue or loop upon the clip D to engage a slot or bole within the band when pressing upon the tyre, the device may be locked in operation by the use of a padlock passed through the tongue. According to the Provisional Specification, the apparatus may be applied to either wheel of the machine.
