Incandescent gas lamps; inverted; lighting.-Incandescent gas lamps are rendered self-lighting by applying catalytic material, such as platinum black, to the mantle fork at a conveniently close position to the burner mouth. According to the Provisional Specification, the catalytic igniter may also be applied to the burner or to the mantle, the last method being specially advantageous for inverted burners.
