17,658. Auscher, P., and Dehainault, C. Aug. 4. Duplicating-books. - The duplicating-book described in Specification No. 17,652, A.D. 1906, is modified to adapt it for triplicating. In other forms of duplicating-book in which the sheets of .paper are folded so as to be withdrawn from beneath the carbon paper either before or after writing upon them, some parts of the paper are made transparent, and the paper carrying the carbon or like paper may be hinged at one end or side instead of forming a band round the book. Fig. 1 shows a duplicating-book in which the part a of the leaf is transparent and receives an impression from the carbon paper, which is fixed above the band e. Fig. 7 shows a triplicating-book in which one copy is made on the part b of the next sheet, and two copies are made as in the book shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 17 shows one form of the book with the part e carrying the duplicating. paper attached at one edge only to the book cover. A spring connexion may be used as a hinge for the bridge e. The carbon paper may be arranged to be stored inside the cover when not in use or may be fed from a roller lodged in the binding, or the face of the bridge e may itself be carbonized.
