Abstract

Water-tube boilers.-In boilers of the type indicated in Fig. 2, the upper limbs a of the tubes are arranged so close together that a portion only of the furnace gases can pass longitudinally between the tubes in the direction of the arrow g. The remainder of the gases pass upwards as shown by the arrow h and along the underside of the drum o. Finally, they pass downwards amongst the lower limbs b and into the flue k. In Fig. 3, the invention is shown applied to a boiler using liquid fuel and having a header q at the back.
