Lubricators. - A lubricator for railway-vehicle and other axles comprises a pair of leather &c. dippers H mounted on a shaft E in fixed bearings. F, F<2> and operated by toothed wheels B, D, the wheel B being mounted on the end of the axle A by means of two studs C. The dipper H may be perforated to increase the quantity of oil picked up. The front J of the axle-box is removable to enable the lubricating device to be withdrawn bodily. An oil-vessel K with openings M containing wool &c. is placed above the bearing L. In place of the dippers H, circular brushes or pads may be used.
