Abstract

10,813. Grant, W. May 9.. Safety-valves.- Spring-loaded safety-valves are constructed so as to prevent buckling of the spring, and consequent injuries of the valve. The valve C is formed with a recess c below its seating, and a recess a is to med in the spindle A above a flange a', upon which the spring bears. The pressure of the spring is communicated to the valve by means of a rod D with rounded ends d, d<1>, which fit into the recesses a, c, respectively. The spindle A is guided by a crossbar E, and the spindle D is made square or hexagonal at d<2>, and may be provided with holes to allow the valve to be turned on its seat.
