2282. Noton, W. Jan. 30. Spindle apparatus.-A more regular and even drag on the yarn, and spinning on the bare spindle, are effected by arranging the traveller c to run on a ring b which is dragged round when the friction between the traveller and ring increases. The ring b rests on a fixed ring a provided with an internal flange a', and is prevented from lifting too far by a flange b<2> having cut parts b<3> turned up under the flange a<2>. In a modification, the loose ring rests on the top of, and also on an internal ledge formed in, the fixed ring, and is prevented from rising too far by set-screws or pins engaging a groove in it, such pins baing retained in position by a spring clip embracing the fixed ring over the ends of the pins. In another modification, the depending flange of the loose ring enters an annular groove formed in the top of the fixed ring, and in another the ring rail is formed to receive the loose ring directly, a semicircular spring clip with bent-in ends retaining it in place.
