Fig. 1 is a section showing the valve c co-operating with a ring of ports c<1>, which open into a chamber c<5> forming an exten. sion of the combustion chamber. A pipe c<2> supplies the charge, and a pipe c<3> leads to the exhaust. A cam-ring e<1> on the half-speed shaft works the valve, and is arranged to keep it stationary during the explosion.
