25,294. Gulline, H. L. Dec. 5. Folding boxes.- A form of folding box or crate suitable for shipment or storage of fruit &c. is shown in Fig. 7. The sides and ends of the box are pivoted together so as to fold flat, turning about the upright parts e, which are rounded for the purpose as shown at f. The bars b, c, forming the top and bottom of the ends, are pivoted to the uprights e by pins g. The sides are secured to the uprights i and in turn to the outside portions of bars e. The top and bottom parts m of the box are formed of parts which turn about the bars l, p. The top is secured by a padlock y, as shown in Fig. 7. To fold the box, the top and;bottom are swung round about the before-mentioned hinged bars, and fall flat upon either side of the body portion which folds in a diagonal manner about the bars e. A paper label x is pasted over each of the screws u, Fig. 8, which secure the bars l to the end pieces i. The screw u is surrounded by a ferrule z in the part l to prevent splitting of the wood.
