Pneumatic.-One part of the invention consists of arranging the action or body a below the aircompression chamber c so that the stock b can be attached to the body in such a manner that a pistol-like grip can be formed as shown in Fig. 1. The sear is made in two parts i, i<2>, the part i<2> being jointed to the part i so as to yield and permit the plunger d to pass freely during the compression of the spring. The part i<2> is then snapped into bent by the spring i<1>. A second part of the invention consists in securing the plug h, which closes the rear end of the compression chamber, by means of the spring plunger k, which can readily be depressed to allow the plug to be removed. A third part of the invention consists in providing at the front end of the compression chamber an air check valve consisting of a spring-pressed slide u which is arranged to bring the hole u<2> in line with the bore of the barrel by the horizontal slide w being driven forward by the plunger d. Other arrangements of the check valve are described. A fourth part of the invention relates to means for fastening the drop-down barrel. The spring sliding bolt r is provided with projections r<1> which engage in notches c<2> at the front end of the compression chamber until disengaged by drawing forward the bolt r by means of the lugs r<2>.
