Incandescent gas lamps.-The reticulated cage and the internal deflecting-cone arranged in the mixing-chamber of the inverted lamp described in Specification No. 6133, A.D. 1905, are replaced either by a gauze disk or a finely-perforated plate c, Fig. 1, or by a gauze disk c and the reticulated cage d, Fig. 6, but without the internal deflecting- cone described in the prior Specification. Instead of the flat gauze disk c, a convex, concave, conical, or corrugated gauze may be employed, either alone or in addition to the reticulated cage d, of which the bottom may be unperforated. The mixing- chamber b, b<1> is preferably formed in two parts, and may be interposed in, in lieu of being located at the lower end of, the mixing-tube. In all cases, the mixing-chamber is protected from the heated products of combustion by the cone e, a gas-tight joint being made by an asbestos washer f. The present burner is stated to be especially suitable for use with gas of abnormally low pressure and quality, the gauze ensuring silent combustion and preventing "lighting back."
