23,578. Roots, J. D. Nov. 16. Tyres, pneumatic.-Relates to tubeless tyres and to means for obtaining a more efficient air-tight joint and a more rigid connexion with the wheel rim. The tyre beads are enlarged, extending at B, B' above the rim flanges and preferably wider at the base C, C' than the rim base F. The meeting faces of the beads are formed with corresponding grooves to receive one or more metal or other flexible bands D of flat section with rounded edges D', of T or other section, which may or may not be formed integral with the rim base. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, filling-pieces C, C' are fitted within an ordinary tyre cover E. The inflating-valve is preferably passed through a sleeve brazed to the band D, aud may have a telescopic stem.
