Tyres, pneumatic.-For heavy vehicles, pneumatic tyres are made flat and crescent-shaped, and the central portion of the rim projects beyond the flanges C so that, in case of deflation of the air tube E, the wheel can run safely on the deflated tyre. The rim has flanges C and projecting bands B, B<1> to grip the double bead D<1> of the cover D, which may be of any suitable make, and there are cavities C<1> in the flanges or in the felloe to receive the edges of the cover when the tyre is deflated. A metallic band B' may be shrunk on to the centre of the rim. The air tube E is cemented or otherwise fastened to the rim to prevent creeping, while creeping of the cover is preferred.
