4695. Seddon, E. H. Feb. 28 Tyres, pneumatic; felloes or rims.- The channelshaped rim c is formed with a detachable side flange d, and within the rim the base g of a pneumatic tyre f having no inner air tube is secured by a metal ring h. One edge of the tyre has a soft india-rubber lip k, which forms an airtight joint when pressed into contact with the other thickened edge l. The ring h, which may be either endless or adjustable, is shaped to engage over the edge l and the corresponding rib i. The inflating-valve may pass either through the base of the rim and tyre or through one of the side flanges of the rim into the tyre. In a modification, the ring is interposed between the rim and tyre, and is formed with undercut edges, between which and the side flanges of the rim the tyre is secured.
