23,464. Timmis, G. H., and Jones, W. D. Nov. 15. Gas retorts; retorts.-Two or more fire-clay or other retorts, for gas-making and other purposes, are constructed in one piece. Two retorts A may be disposed vertically one above the other. The cast-iron mouthpiece B, common to the two retorts, is provided with lugs E upon which may be placed a shelf for charging and discharging the upper retort. Apertures or passages may be provided in the diaphragm separating the retorts, to secure better beating of the retorts. Three retorts may be arranged vertically.
