Abstract

21,559. Weeks, J. W. Oct. 23. Pressure-regulating valves.- In a gas-regulator, the valve closes against the inlet pressure and is actuated by a floating bell, subjected to the outlet pressure, through a toggle-joint mechanism. The valve 14 is pivotally mounted upon arms 16, centred at 18, and a connexion 23, the last together with arms 20, centred at 21, forming the toggle joint. A part 24 serves to actuate the mechanism described and is adjustably connected to the bell 12, which floats in a mercury trough. A frame 13 of semicircular cross-section is screwed to the casing and carries the spindles 18, 21, its object being to enable the device to be assembled before being placed in position. The bell is loaded with weights.
