Draining-holes a are made through the bottom of the turbine casing b between each row or each alternate row of guide-blades c, and the holes are connected by depending U-shaped tubes d arranged to form a helical channel leading to the hot-welt and condenser. The depth of the U-tubes is sufficient to allow a head of water to accumulate in one leg capable of balancing the difference in pressure between two adjacent draining-holes.
