Abstract
18,833. Boult, A. J., [Goldman & Co., E.]. Sept. 18. Filters.-The filter described in Specification No. 8984, A.D. 1905, is modified by the use of perforated sheet-metal screens instead of cloth on either side of the distributing and collecting plates B, C. Beer or other liquid enters the casing E by the pipe E', and passes along corrugated plates B and then through filtering-material D, from which it is collected into the corrugations of plates C and led into the central outlet pipe. As shown in Fig. 2, the corrugations of the plates B are arranged in groups alternately radial and V-shaped. The plates have a flat centre-piece b<2> by means of which they are bolted to flanges on the outside of tube sections F of which the central pipe is built up. The corrugations of the plates C are circular with intersecting radial grooves at intervals, as shown in Fig. 4. Bands c<3>which keep the filtering-material in place are secured to the outer margins of the plates, while their inner edge is bound by angle-shaped rings in which the sections F are seated so as to form a continuous pipe.
