18,765. McRae, J., and Ingram, H. Sept. 16. Acetylene.-In generators of the type in which the gas is generated in a bell b, out of which the water is driven by the pressure of the gas when the latter is turned off, means are provided for separating the wet refuse so as to prevent aftergeneration and for removing unused carbide. This is effected by placing the carbide on a series of perforated trays e through which the refuse drops. These trays may be of wire - gauze with metal edges. In a modification, the carbide is placed in a wire-gauze chamber with separating-disks and doors in the side for charging. The water enters the carbide chamber through a tube d with closed top and perforated sides to prevent choking.
