The usual gauze or gauzes in the mixing-tube are replaced by a deflecting - cone h having radial slots s in its edge. The cone, which deflects and facilitates the mixture of air and gas, receives the lower end i of the mantle rod j, and may be supported by bending the slotted edge over the upper end of the mixing-tube.
