Abstract

14,196. Sterzel, K. A. July 11, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus.-In order to prevent the disturbing phenomena caused by waves of undesired direction entering the R÷ntgen tube, the cathode rays of undesirable direction are not directed upon the anti-cathode mirror but upon a device which is rendered, as far as possible, unsuitable for producing Rontgen rays and which, moreover, turns any pencil of rays emitted by it in a direction opposite to that of the rays from the anticathode mirror. The electrodes Et, E' are connected to the source of current, but only the electrode E<1> is to be used for producing R÷ntgen rays by allowing the cathode rays to fall upon the anti-cathode mirror A. Behind this mirror is a hollow body B with its mouth facing the electrode E' so that it hinders the production of Rontgen rays from any cathode rays emitted from the electrode E', either accidentally with continuous current, or regularly at every second alternation with alternating current.
