Abstract

14,024. Sutcliffe, R. July 7. Conveyers ; loading.-Relates to conveyer arrangements for use in confined places, such as thin seam coal mines where the coal is conveyed by an endless band from the face of the seam and delivered into corves, by which it is rendered unnecessary to dint or sink the floor of the gates, or the ends of the roadways, where they debouch into the working faces, and to extend the pass-by for the corves beyond the coal face and the end of the conveyer. Bands j feed the coal on to the gate conveyer d from each side of the working face. The bands d, j pass over rollers c, i, mounted in bearings upon a base-plate a, and are driven from an electromotor k. The band d is deflected downwards by a jockey pulley q so that the coal may fall upon it from the bands j. The band d passes in an inclined direction over troughing rollers r of the kind described in Specification No. 11,379, A.D. 1905, which are mounted on standards t and connected by distance-pieces, Fig. 4. The drum v, at the upper end of the run, is mounted on a frame w, so as to dump into a corve C. When the corve C is loaded, the empty corve D is run in behind to push out the laden one and itself receive its charge. During charging of the corves, material is prevented from falling between them by angularlybent shields placed over the near edges of adjacent corves.
