Abstract
13,624. Claridge, J. W. July 3. Do o rs; smokeconsuming.-A firedoor a, Fig. 2, for steam -boiler and other furnaces is mounted upon an axis e between plates d projecting from the furnace front and is counterbalanced by weights b to retain it in any position desired. A pin may be inserted through holes g in the plate d to fix the position of the door, or the notched wheel h and pawl k may be used for the same purpose, as shown in Fig. 3. The door is convex on its outer surface, and in conjunction with the air channel and deflector c has the effect, when opened inwardly, of "sharpening" the draught. Chambers l with nozzles m, shown in Fig. 4, may be provided above the door, for admitting air under pressure.
