Making weighing-apparatus.-A postal balance a, adapted to rock on its knife-edge c when a letter or packet supported on the upper shaped knifeedge b overbalances the weighted arm d, is made in one piece by casting in a chill mould or by stamping or pressing from metal &c. The balance may also be made by cutting a strip from a bar of metal which has been rolled, drawn, or squirted, and has the cross-section shown in Fig. 1.
