Abstract

7797. Fetzer, A., Czaykowski, D., and Wiesjan, P. April 12. Rail joints.-Relates to means for locking the nuts used to secure the fishplates of railway rail joints in position. A spring band g, bent as shown in Fig. 3, is fitted on to the nut after it has been screwed up. The nut is then unscrewed to the position shown in Fig. 4, so that the end h of the band abuts against the projecting edge or flange i of the fishplate. By this means, the nut is sufficiently loose to allow play and to permit expansion of the rails, but is prevented from unscrewing further.
