Toothed gearing. - In connexion with apparatus for plaiting ropes of cloth into stacks, or into kiers, &c., a carriage is employed which is moved intermittently along rails placed above the stack. This operation is produced by means of a driving-pulley e loose on the shaft e<1> and having attached to it a sleeve carrying a worm, which acts, through the bevel &c. gearing shown, to turn a space-wheel i<2>, the latter transferring the motion intermittently by spur gearing &c. to the sprocketwheels of the driving-chains of the carriage referred to.
