Multiple-effect apparatus; general arrangement of distilling and condensing apparatus; liquids, feeding; condensers stills.-In multiple-effect apparatus, stills and condensers are arranged concentrically, and heat is supplied to the innermost still and passes outwards through the series. Liquid is supplied to the stills i, n<2>, n<4>, through the pipes p, which are closed automatically by means of floats q. The central still i is provided with a heating-coil k, and the outermost condenser l with a cooling-coil m, through which the liquid to be distilled is passed to the pipe s and casing s<1>. Condensed liquid from the condensers n<1>, n<3>, l is drawn off through the pipes r. Air outlets t and a valve v are provided. The apparatus can be arranged for working with pressure, pressure and vacuum, or vacuum alone.
