Abstract
7154. Wiegand, W. March 25. Multiple-effect apparatus; separate heater and evaporator apparatus. - A piled multipleeffect apparatus comprises a number of elements each of the separate heater and evaporator type. The heaters A, A<1> are formed of vertical tubes, through which the liquid flows upwards, and which are heated by steam admitted by pipes n, i at the base. The evaporators B, B<1> are placed between the heaters, and are provided with steam discharge pipes i, k at the top and liquid discharge pipes m, l at the bottom. The heated liquid is admitted to the evaporators by means of annular slits formed between funnelshaped tubes g and caps h. Tubes o, p convey the water of condensation from one heater to the next, and finally to the pipe k leading to the condenser and air-pump. Throttling-devices q, r, s are inserted in the tubes p, o, m in order to provide the requisite pressure differences in the various parts of the apparatus.
