A valve 5 on a seating 4 in a casing 1 attached to a tank by a fitting 2 is raised by a lever 9 operated by an eccentric 19 on a rock-shaft 17. The lever 9 is pivoted at 10 and connected by a link 11<a> to a lever 11 carrying bowl 14 by a link 13. When the valve 5 is raised, the impact of the water on the bowl 14 holds it open until the tank is empty, when it closes by its own weight, the rock-shaft 17 being weighted so as to return into the position shown when released.
