Abstract

8684. Fyfe, P.. June 12. Valve-discharge water-waste preventers.-Relates to pressure flushing-apparatus for water closets, sinks, urinals, &c., of the type comprising a closed tank to which water is admitted until the air pressure in the tank closes the supply valve, the water being expelled when the flushing - valve is opened. According to the invention, the opening and closing of the supply valve are controlled automatically by movements of the flushing- valve. The valve system is shown in Fig. 2, the branch F being attached to a pipe leading to a point near the bottom of the closed tank, the nipple X to the water supply, and the branch a to the flush-pipe. When the air pressure in the tank rises, the plunger G is raised against the action of an adjustably weighted lever L, or a spring or weight, until the inclined surface O releases the rod P, allowing the valve Q to close under the pressure of the water supply. Further movement of the plunger is checked by a projection Z on a spring Y coacting with the arm L. To discharge the water, the arm L is lifted, raising the plunger G until the bucket N leaves the upper end of the branch F.
