Bedsteads; couches; mattresses.-The back of a convertible couch is formed from a frame which carries folding end rails and supporting-legs, and may serve as a bedstead when turned down. A bed frame, formed in two parts B, B' .hinged at b<1>, carries at each end of the part B an L-shaped arm D, a pivot d on which bears in a recess a<1> in the end frame A of the couch. A seat C, when in use, rests with its front rail c on a rail a<2> joining the end frames A, and is carried at each end by a pivot d<2> fixed on the arm D and bearing in an ear c<2> carried by the seat C. When the part B is turned into a horizontal position, rollers b<2> carried by the part B<1> and running in guides G fixed to the end frames A cause the part B<1> to assume a position in alignment with the part B, the seat C being caused at the same time to move forward along the sloping surfaces c<3> formed on the end of the seat frame and bearing on the rail a<2>. Head and foot rail frames N, pivoted on brackets m<1> carried by the bed frames B, B', are formed each with a rear section n attached to the frame N by means of hinges n<2>. A supporting-leg 0 carries rigidly at its upper extremity a segmental pinion pivoted on a bracket P fixed to the frame B, the pinion being in gear with a pinion attached to the bottom of a rail fcrming part of the frame N and pivoted on the bracket P, thus enabling the leg 0 to turn parallel with the bed frame B when the end frame N is turned down. The bottom of the bed frame B is provided with a suitable cushion L, adapted to form a couch back when turned into position, carrying a hinged upholstered hood H. A removable mattress R provided with a hinged part R<1> is supported by a spring bottom l, and, when folded, is kept in place by the end frames N.
