21,808. Cree, T. H. Oct. 11. Handles, fixing to stocks; long-handled brooms.-A piece of sheet metal, shaped as shown in Fig. 1, has its extremities bent at right-angles along the dotted lines. The main portion is then bent round so as nearly, but not quite, to encircle the handle end, the holes D, E then being opposite one another so as to receive a bolt with a wing-nut. The parts F bend inwards and terminate in teeth G, which are bent sharply outwards. The device is inserted into the hole in the brush stock, so that, when the handle is pushed in, the parts G are driven into the sides of the hole in the stock and the bolt which passes through the holes D, E fixes the handle. The device may be cast to shape.
