Abstract
17,927. Lees & Co., A., and Taylor, R. Aug. 18. Spindle apparatus.-In order to permit of cops being spun upon thin paper tubes or upon bobbins or tubes at will, a tube e of wood, metal, or other suitable material is temporarily fitted on to the spindle a, to receive the paper tube f. The bottom of the tube e is provided with a flange e<1> or a groove, to engage with the upper end of the weighted holding-down wire d. In place of a single wire d serving for both spindle and tube, a separate holding-down device may be used for each part. In a modified form, the lower part of the tube e is extended partly to cover the sleeve of the wharl c, and is strengthened with a flanged metal ring. In this case, the ordinary holding-down wire serves for both tube and spindle. When yarn is to be wound on the ordinary tubes or bobbins, the tube e is removed.
