Abstract

7393. Ashworth, T., and Gaunt, J. S. April 21. Paper tubes for use on the spindles of spinning and l i k e machinery. In order that the central aperture of a cop may be tapered in the right direction when the cop has been wound in an inverted position on the spindle, the spindle is provided, before the winding- operation, with a conical tube d, of paper or other suitable material, which is thicker at the upper than at its lower end. The tube is preferably split longitudinally from its smaller to near its larger end, to facilitate its removal from the completed cop ; and if it is desired that a tube be retained in the interior of the finished cop, a second tube f is placed on the tube d as shown in Fig. 6.
