17,182. Bonacossa, P., and Schleicher, C. Aug. 5. Silk-dressing machines for silk waste. The tufts of silk are held by books b round the main drum a and dressed by endless card sheets c, c<1> or rollers travelling in opposite directions and having teeth pointing in the direction of motion. The fibres taken by the sheet c are transferred to the sheet c' by a rapidly-revolving brush e, the dirt falling away, and all the fibres are removed from the sheet c' to a sharp-toothed doffer f by a brush e'. The fleece is removed from the doffer by a comb g, and is lapped on a drum, or passed through a funnel and coiler to form a sliver.
