Abstract

7651. Stackhouse, V. E. March 31. Reels and winches, rod.- Relates to means for securing fishing reels or winches. Two similar rocking clutch plates C, Fig. 1, pivotally secured to the plate B, Fig. 2, fixed to the reel, are forced together by springs D, so that their semicircular parts c' embrace the grooved neck a of the central spindle A. The rocking plates C have pins c<2> which project into grooves f<1> in the flange f which extends under a central flange of the plate B and forms part of the tubular spindle F. Over the spindle F a milled head or nut E is loosely secured by a pin e, which allows a small movement by working in a groove of the spindle F. The clutch can be locked to prevent accidental displacement when the pulley is in position by turning the milled head until it bites the plate B. The pulley is free to be removed from the spindle when the milled head E is turned until the pins c<2> are forced outwardly and press back the rocking plates C from their closed position. Fig. 4 shows a fishing-reel G provided with the clutch device. By pressing one of the handles g and at the same time turning the milled head E, the reel can be detached from the spindle.
