Fingerboards for banjoes, violins, and like instruments are made of metal and provided with frets. The wooden disc E is secured by screws between the rim D and the holding-down rim F of the aluminium ring B, another rim of which is screwed to the wooden body A. A cross-strut G is glued to the disc, and secured between the rims D, F. The tail-piece H is provided with the usual cover L The bridge is preferably of aluminium. The fingerboard J is a casting, preferably of aluminium, with frets K, and is screwed to the neck L.
