Abstract

Incandescent gas lamps ; gas supply; flues; regenerative gas lamps.-In inverted lamps, the mixing-tube r widens from top to bottom in proportion to the expansion of the gas. The widening is preferably continuous, but may be stepwise as shown by the dotted lines. A sheet of wire gauze s, of such a size that the available gas passage is equal to the area of the tube r, is fixed in an expanded part t of the tube r to pre. vent the flame from flashing back. The mixture of air and gas is heated by the hot air and products of combustion which collect in the cap or flue f surrounding the mixing-tube, which cap may be provided with lateral openings.
