Abstract
27,506. Wright, A. P., and Midgley, A. H. Dec. 15. Drawings to Specification. Driving machines by electromotors.-Relates to machines having two armatures capable of being slid endwise as described in Specification No. 13,741, A.D. 1903, [Abridgment Class Dynamo-electric generators &c.]. In this case, both armatures have windings. The machines may be designed as motors to give a small power at a low speed and large power at a high speed, such as are required for driving printing-presses &c. In the case of a motor for driving printing-presses, the armatures are made of different lengths, the longer one preferably being wound for the large power at high speeds. The field magnets are long enough to reach over the whole of the long armature and over part of the short armature. The armature which is being displaced may be cut out automatically by the operating-lever. When the small armature is cut out, the machine may be operated as in the above-mentioned Specification.
