24,610. James, C. Nov. 12. Lubricating pistons. In the trunk piston of an internal - combustion or other engine, lubricant supplied under pressure to the gudgeon pin collects in annular grooves in the pin, and passes through passages in the pin or in the boss supporting the pin to the exterior of the piston. Lubricant is supplied under pressure to the small end of the connecting-rod by a pipe f, and passes by a duct g to a groove i in the pin d, and along the exterior surface of the pin to grooves e. Passages c lead from the grooves e to one or more grooves b in the piston. Relief holes open from the grooves b to the interior of the piston.
