The apparatus is suspended at any desired depth by a towing-line and a lead-line, in such a way that the roller D is lowermost and will be rotated on meeting any obstacle. The pro. jection d then raises the spring pin c into contact with the pin f<2> which is connected to a buffer plate. The conductors of an electric bell or other signalling-device, are connected to the pins c, f<2>.
