15,207. Hussong, J. July 9. Dyeing.-In apparatus for dyeing yarns means are provided for taking part of the weight off the supporting-sticks and also for turning the sticks. Fig. 1 shows a vat fitted with means for circulating the liquid, but any other form of vat can be used. The sticks n, Figs. 4 and 5, for supporting the yarn are fitted in slotted bearings I, J adapted to be supported in side frames D', D<2> suitably connected to cross-bars E provided with means, as shown, by which the whole frame can be raised out of the vat. One of the bearings I of each stick is fitted with a worm-wheel adapted to engage a worm on a shaft H, and by rotating the shaft the stick can be turned ; consecutive sticks turn in opposite directions. The vat is provided with a partition a, dividing off a compartment containing a circulating-wheel B, and with a perforated false bottom b, to allow the liquid to circulate, having fewer perforations near the partition a. Above the false bottom is a perforated floor S, upon which the yarn rests and is partly supported, so as to relieve the sticks of the weight and allow the liquid to circulate. In some cases the false bottom b may be dispensed with, and in others the sticks may not be arranged to rotate. A perforated plate G may be carried by the frame above the yarn.
