Abstract

13,345. Severin, H. June 15. Blowing and moulding bottles &c.-Relates to machines for blowing and moulding hollow glass articles, and especially bottles. The parison and finishing moulds b, d are each made in two parts hinged on the frame, and two mouth moulds c, c<1> are employed, which are mounted on opposite sides of the pivoted plate l and of the axis m of the plate, as shown. When a bottle is being finished in the mould d, a parison is being formed in the mould b, and when these operations are completed, the moulds are opened and the plate l is turned by the hand-wheel k through an angle of 180‹, thus bringing the new parison in its mouth mould to the finishing-mould, and the mouth mould previously over the finishing-mould to the parison mould. The mouth moulds are in communication with the passages n in the plate l, compressed air being supplied, as required, through the valvecontrolled passages s, s<1> in the axis m. The passages n are normally closed by spring-controlled flap valves o, o', which are opened by the arm i on the mouth stamper or mandrel h when the latter is raised to form the mouth of the parison, and are closed by their springs when the mandrel is withdrawn. In its retracted position, the mandrel is clear of the mould, and its cooling between successive operations is thus facilitated. The mandrel and the bottom stamp e are operated by the levers g,f respectively.
